Inpatient Pharmacist, PharmD – Build Analyst
Job Description:• The Epic Willow Inpatient Pharmacist (PharmD) Build Analyst is responsible for the design, build, configuration, testing, and optimization of the Epic Willow Inpatient module within a hospital or health system environment. • This role bridges clinical pharmacy expertise with Epic build proficiency to ensure that medication ordering, verification, dispensing, and administration workflows are safe, compliant, and fully aligned with regulatory and operational standards. • The analyst works closely with clinicians, pharmacy leadership, informatics teams, and Epic technical teams to deliver a high-performing, patient-centric medication management system.• Design, build, test, and maintain Epic Willow Inpatient components, including medication dictionaries, order sets, order entry workflows, and dispensing interfaces. • Collaborate with clinical pharmacy leadership and nursing teams to translate medication-related workflows into system configurations that support safe and efficient care delivery. • Configure and maintain medication formulary, pharmacy inventory, and dose/route/frequency tables in accordance with institutional policies and compliance requirements.• Build and test interfaces to automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis, Omnicell), IV workflow systems, Smart Pumps, and other connected devices. • Participate in system validation, change control, regression testing, and go-live readiness activities for new implementations and upgrades. • Conduct unit and integrated testing in coordination with other Epic modules (e.g., Orders, ClinDoc, Beacon, Willow Ambulatory, and Bridges). • Develop and execute test scripts to validate order entry, dispensing, and administration workflows.• Provide go-live and post-live support, triage issues, and apply troubleshooting expertise to ensure minimal disruption to pharmacy operations. • Maintain detailed documentation for build configuration, validation scripts, and change control records. • Collaborate with IT, compliance, and clinical leadership to support pharmacy governance and policy-driven build decisions. • Train end users and super users as needed and contribute to knowledge base and training documentation. Requirements:• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required; active pharmacist license preferred.• Epic Willow Inpatient Certification (or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire) required. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Epic Willow build, configuration, or support within a hospital or healthcare system. • Experience working with medication dictionaries, compounding workflows, and infusion management. • Familiarity with HL7 interfaces, medication dispensing cabinets, and Smart Pump integrations. • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication safety, formulary management, and regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, ISMP, USP).• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, technical, and administrative teams.
