Program Coordinator Office/Division | Remote/Homebased | NON-PERMANENT APPOINTMENT This Non-Permanent Appointment has a duration of 8 months and is expected to run through July 30, 2026. This recruitment is only open to internal Washington State Department of Health employees. THE OPPORTUNITY: Join a team turning global health lessons into local impact. As the Program Coordinator for the Global to Local (G2L) Program, you’ll help advance health equity for immigrant and globally connected communities across Washington State. This role drives collaboration between the Department of Health, local health jurisdictions, and Tribal partners to improve pandemic preparedness, community resilience, and culturally responsive health promotion. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and coordinate the Global to Local program’s activities and projects—from planning to implementation and evaluation. • Manage contracts and budgets with local and Tribal partners to ensure timely, equitable delivery of services. • Support the development of culturally and linguistically appropriate health education materials to promote COVID-19 prevention and broader community wellness. • Partner with internal teams and community stakeholders to align program activities, track progress, and share outcomes. • Develop reports, presentations, and communication materials highlighting progress, challenges, and community impact. • Foster collaboration across epidemiology, communications, and community engagement teams to strengthen statewide health promotion and surveillance efforts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS We value all relevant experience (paid or unpaid) and encourage applicants from all backgrounds. While “Preferred Experience” is not required, these skills or experiences can help you stand out as a candidate. • Option 1: A bachelor’s degree; and three (3) or more years of management or consultative experience in public health education or community-based health promotion programs. • Option 2: Five (5) or more years of management or consultative experience in public health education or community-based health promotion programs. Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience: • One (1) year serving as a team or project lead that included developing work plans, setting direction for work, coordinating work among team members, monitoring performance, leading quality improvement, and giving feedback to team members. • Experience coordinating or managing budgets. Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience: • Master’s degree in public health, social and behavioral science, health communication, health education or promotion, or closely allied field. • Three years of experience supervising technical and professional staff. • Two years of experience developing and managing complex budgets. • Two years of experience working with and managing part of a federal grant. • Two years of experience in an infectious disease, communicable disease or related primary prevention health program. • CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) or MCHES (Master Certified Health Education Specialist) certification • Knowledge of immunization federal grant process and requirements. • Successful completion of DOH contracts management training, and prior experience serving as a contracts manager at DOH. Conditions of Employment: The following terms and conditions of employment must be met with or without reasonable accommodation: Work Setting, including hazards: The position’s assigned workstation is Homebased. Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in a mobile work environment and/or a DOH office, at a computer or in meetings 90% of the time. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in government or home office environments. Schedule (i.e., hours and days): Standard business hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A flexible and/or compressed work schedule may be considered at the incumbent’s request, subject to supervisory approval Travel Requirements: Travel is not required to perform the duties of this position; however occasional travel may be expected to attend meetings, trainings, or conferences. When traveling for work, the position may require traveling alone or with another employee for multiple days and nights in or outside of Washington state. When driving for state business, the employee must be able to legally operate a state or privately-owned vehicle; OR provide alternate transportation while on state business. Tools and Equipment: This position requires phone conversations while looking up information on the computer. Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g., desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, etc.) Customer Interactions: Position works with local health staff, health care providers, internal and external partners, government agencies, community organizations, and possibly the public. Daily contact with office-level managers and staff. Other: Representation: This position is covered by a bargaining unit for which the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is the exclusive representative.
