Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – Remote Opportunity at blithequark

As an Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist at blithequark, you'll play a critical role in driving the growth of our ocean volumes and enhancing the development of our ocean product.Working closely with our Managing Director of Ocean, you'll be responsible for supporting carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. You'll also serve as an ocean subject matter expert, supporting sales and operations teams to drive business growth and excellence. Key Responsibilities:* Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to our preferred network* Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with our Trade Lane Management team to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations* Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with our Managing Director of Ocean, Global Trade Lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables* Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required, as you work closely with product, sales, and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize company risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets* Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met or exceeded* Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required* Work with our Managing Director of Ocean and Regional Ocean Management team to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed* Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets* Collaborate with our Marketing team to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean productEssentialQualifications:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent* At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing* Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus* Familiarity with bolthires Office applications* Excellent communication and presentation skills* Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen* Strong interpersonal and leadership skillsPreferredQualifications:* Experience working with ocean carriers and negotiating rates* Knowledge of ocean freight forwarding operations and procedures* Familiarity with ocean freight forwarding software and systems* Experience with budget management and financial analysisSkills and Competencies:* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects* Strong leadership and management skills* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders* Strong business acumen and understanding of the international freight forwarding industryCareer Growth Opportunities and LearningBenefits:At blithequark, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their careers.As an Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll have access to a range of training and development opportunities, including:* Regular training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge* Opportunities to work on high-profile projects and contribute to the growth and success of our ocean product* Collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages innovation and creativity* Opportunities for career advancement and professional growthWork Environment and Company Culture:At blithequark, we're proud of our people-first culture and commitment to excellence.Our work environment is dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative, with a focus on innovation, creativity, and teamwork.
