The Fleet Analytics group at blithequark is a vital team that enables many groups to leverage the data we collect, assisting engineers through direct support and by building packages and tools for self-serve analysis.Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced software engineer to join our Fleet Analytics team. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining complex software systems that leverage our wealth of tool data. You will work with stakeholders to design and implement metrics, packages, and tools that enable engineers to self-serve their data insights. Your work will have a direct impact on blithequark's product and will support the work of hundreds of engineers across disciplines throughout the company.Key Responsibilities Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain complex software systems that leverage tool data at blithequark Provide guidance to blithequark's data engineering/data science community regarding best practices Collaborate with engineers to drive the adoption of packages and tools Write reproducible data analysis over petabytes of data using modern open-source technologies Summarize and effectively communicate data analysis assumptions and results Build data pipelines to optimize the performance and accuracy of analysis work across the company Design and implement metrics, packages, and tools that enable engineers to self-serve their data insights Write clean and tested code that can be maintained and extended by other software engineers Essential Qualifications 7+ years of software development experience in a related field Strong skills in Python, SQL, and experience with data processing engines like Apache Spark Experience with data science tools such as Pandas, Numpy, R, Matlab, or Octave Experience building data pipelines, web applications, and machine learning models in a professional environment A strong foundation in statistics and experience building data visualizations Experience writing software in a professional environment and strong verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills to help refine problem statements and determine how to solve them with available data and from first principles Preferred Qualifications Strong skills in Scala and understanding of distributed computing, including HDFS, Spark, and Presto Experience with DevOps tools such as Linux, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes Experience with complex hardware systems and continuous integration and continuous developmentCareer Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.As a software engineer on our Fleet Analytics team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex and challenging projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and develop new skills and expertise.
