Reporting to the Superintendent – Mobile Maintenance, the Supervisor – Mobile Maintenance, Welding is responsible for overseeing welding operations and ensuring the structural integrity of mining equipment and infrastructure through effective welding practices. This role involves supervising a team of welders and fabricators, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.Although this is a supervisory role, it will be a very ‘hands-on’ position. The incumbent will lead from the front and will be heavily involved in practical fabrication and welding on site. Location: Blackwater Mine Site Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation Responsibilities • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds’ safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.• Supervise day-to-day welding operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.• Provide direction and support to welding technicians, including job assignments, training, and performance feedback.• Act as backfill for the Execution Supervisor when required, ensuring continuity in operations and decision-making.• Develop, implement, and standardize bucket inspection procedures and work scopes, ensuring consistency and clarity across maintenance activities.• Make informed decisions on repair strategies, including determining: -What can be executed in-house with existing resources -What should be outsourced to local vendors based on bolthires, complexity, or lead time.• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Procurement teams to optimize work packages and support equipment reliability.• Support the development and maintenance of welding procedures, specifications, and quality standards in compliance with industry codes and best practices.• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality assurance protocols.• Track and report on welding performance metrics and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed.• Participate in resource planning and workforce development to ensure adequate skill coverage across shifts.Although this is a supervisory role, it will be a very ‘hands-on’ position.
