Historic Preservation Program Analyst (NYS HELPS Program)

About the positionResponsibilities• Evaluate state and federal consultation submissions to determine the presence of eligible historic properties and their potential impacts. • Prepare nominations for the State and National Register of Historic Places and guide property owners in their development. • Participate in public informational meetings and present nominations to the New York State Board for Historic Preservation. • Conduct site visits and meet with project sponsors for survey and National Register projects.• Assist local sponsors in designing historic resources surveys and evaluate completed surveys for accuracy. • Review and maintain the Cultural Resource Information System (CRIS) inventory and ensure data consistency. Requirements• A bachelor's degree in art history, architectural history, cultural anthropology, historic preservation, historic preservation planning, public history, urban history, or U.S. History and two years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in any of the above disciplines and one year of relevant experience.• Candidates must clearly indicate how they meet the minimum qualifications in their resume. Nice-to-haves• Experience with historic preservation projects and compliance reviews. • Familiarity with the National Historic Preservation Act and New York State Historic Preservation Act.
