Your primary responsibility will be to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading, ensuring that all freight is handled safely, efficiently, and in accordance with our high standards. You will also be responsible for verifying documentation, securing freight, and completing required reports and documentation. If you have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.Key Responsibilities Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g., type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systems Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, rope) Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary Verify and complete required documentation and reports Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed Perform hostling duties if required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as blithequark policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of skills, knowledge, and experience.The following qualifications are essential: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator Basic written and verbal communication skills Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift Ability to work independently and/or as a team member Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, the following skills and experience are preferred: Experience with freight handling and transportation operations Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment Excellent customer service skills Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Working Conditions As a Freight Handling and Operations Specialist at blithequark, you will work in a dock environment with exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise.You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, with frequent contact with service center personnel.
