About the positionResponsibilities• Identifies surgical patients for inclusion in the program registry based on program inclusion/exclusion criteria and randomization protocol; collects preoperative, operative, and post-operative data components; meets the accrual requirements of cases per year. • Utilizes resources so that valid, reliable data is entered; utilizes available software from the NSQIP website; enters data into website. • Maintains working relationships with hospital personnel; interacts with staff to ensure support for the management of the program.• Contacts patients and families for follow up either to identify possible postoperative complications associated with the surgery performed at the hospital. • Participates in weekly teleconferences with other surgical clinical nurse reviewers. • Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action. • Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on trends data. Extracts patient clinical data from medical records or other sources containing patient clinical data.• Verifies and populates patient clinical data in designated databases. • Maintains consistency and integrity of data collection; reports concerns regarding data integrity. • Presents data and recommendations for process/performance improvement initiatives and quality management. • Assists with implementation of databases; trains staff on data capture and data entry. • Interfaces data from organization hospitals for reporting purposes; develops and analyses systems needed to obtain information or statistics vital to project.• Collaborates with various departments in database development and required modifications. • Performs related duties as required.
