As a leader in the industry, bolthires offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects, collaborate with talented artists, and grow your career in a dynamic and innovative environment.About the RoleAs aRemote Set Extension Artist (DMP) at bolthires, you will be responsible for creating stunning digital environments that transport audiences to new and imaginative worlds. Using your expertise in digital matte painting and 3D world-building, you will work closely with the climate team and Production Designers to expand digital environments in a 3D World, seamlessly integrating layered, pre-lit, view-dependent fine art with fully CG environments. Key Responsibilities• Execute layered, pre-lit, view-dependent fine art seamlessly integrated with fully CG environments• Collaborate with the climate team and Production Designers to expand digital environments in a 3D World• Create foundations, scenes, and environments in a 3D world using digital rendering and painting programs like Maya, Photoshop, Nuke, Houdini, Clarisse, and bolthires's proprietary software• Extrapolate art direction, including design, compositional style, lighting, and illustrations, to match the Production Architects' overall vision• Support the technical aspects of the work created• Work closely with the Art Office, Design, Modeling, Look Development, and Lighting teams to achieve the final shot• Interpret concept art and color keys into adapted yet practical final images• Design environments for a shot given extrapolation of more generalized concept art• Create whole shot augmentation from scratch• Model on a case-by-case basis, particularly complex territory age• Texture and shader age depending on the situation• Light self-produced 3D resources as well as existing show resources using Dlight, Maya, and Hyperion• Produce fully realized high-resolution HDR digital matte paintings• Create fully composited set augmentation in Nuke using 3D projections, creative compositing, and post-production motion blur and DOF• Take art cues from various sources and collaborate with multiple departments to achieve the final shot• Deliver final frames to the lighting departmentEssential QualificationsTo be considered for this role, you must have:• A four-year certification or equivalent experience in a relevant field• Professional experience in digital matte painting, set extension, or a related field, with activity experience preferred• A high level of skill in painting, synthesis, perspective, and a variety of theory• A strong understanding of 2.5D workflow with multiple projection cameras, as well as broad knowledge of both 2D and 3D workflows and mindsets• Excellent artistic abilities with a willingness to learn new workflows• Broad knowledge of Mac OSX and Linux, as well as proficiency in programs like Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, and various renderers• The ability to work iteratively in a fluid and fast-paced environment, take direction easily, and participate as a member of a highly collaborative teamPreferred QualificationsWhile not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:• Secondary specialty skills or a generalist background• Broad knowledge of real-world lighting and materials• A background in custom drawing and painting• A broad understanding of shot and painting composition, with ideal knowledge of cinematography• A strong understanding of photography and its terminology• The ability to tackle complex problems in a highly creative mannerWhat We OfferAs aRemote Set Extension Artist (DMP) at bolthires, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, collaborate with talented artists, and grow your career in a dynamic and innovative environment.bolthires offers a competitive salary of $25-$40 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and perks.
