Job Title : Health Info Coder III Location : Remote Duration : 16+ weeks contract Description :- Required: • One of the following certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H) • Minimum of 5 years of acute, multi-specialty hospital coding experience • At least 2 years of both professional (pro-fee) and facility coding experience • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems • Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology • Proven ability to lead staff and function as a technical resource • Experience as a Medical Record Abstractor • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Ability to research coding guidelines and payer policies • Experience with Epic Preferred: - 4 or more years of total medical coding experience - Additional specialty certification - Experience with Oncology coding guidelines - Knowledge of CMS and local carrier regulations for teaching hospitals Under the manager's direction, the incumbent may function as a Lead Coder or perform highly complex coding in areas requiring specialized expertise. As a lead, the incumbent is responsible for daily oversight of the work assignments to ensure optimal workflow and productivity. Responsible for assessing the quality of abstracted data. Acts as a technical and informational resource for the Health Information Coder IV level. Provides information on coding question trends, and issues that affect the coder-physician communication process and follow up on queries to physicians to address coding deficiencies. Reconciles discrepancies between coded physician encounter forms and HIM coding and works on denials. As a Specialized Coder, the incumbent is responsible for utilizing a highly specialized and complex set of knowledge, skills, and appropriate credentials to perform Infusion Coding, Oncology Coding. As a Health Information Coder for our Medical Group, you will handle a variety of vital responsibilities, including: • Reviewing physicians’ notes to determine if documentation requirements are met • Extrapolating and applying diagnostic, therapeutic codes as applicable across anatomical subsections for general coding in work queues • Analyzing medical documentation to assess accuracy • Entering charges in EPIC • Identifying and reporting any potential compliance risks • Code and process hospital charges in Epic within established departmental and enterprise guidelines • Attend courses to learn the latest procedures/diagnostic codes as they relate to Oncology Infusion Coding • Inform the Manager of problems in billing • Monitor CPT and HCPC changes and inform the Manager of necessary changes needed to apply system-wide • Liaison between department and hospital for implementation and maintenance of billing codes • Monitor CMS, Medi-Cal website for billing guidelines for High Complex and Chemotherapy drugs • Cross-training with intra-departmental for revenue optimization Apply tot his job
