Best Buy is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager – Data Store Platforms to lead the Data Store team responsible for building scalable and reliable data platform services. This role involves guiding teams in delivering self-service data capabilities and ensuring operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers delivering cloud-based data platform services and enablement capabilities
- Deliver scalable, secure, and self-service data services that support internal engineering teams
- Guide technical design, architecture patterns, and engineering standards for platform services
- Improve developer experience by simplifying service adoption and reducing friction
- Partner with operations teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational readiness
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with engineering needs
- Coach and develop engineers through feedback, career growth, and performance management
Skills
- 7 years of software or platform engineering experience, including 2 years leading an engineering team
- 5 years of experience building and operating AWS-based data platforms, including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, Amazon ElastiCache, or Amazon DocumentDB
- 3+ years of experience guiding technical design, architecture, or engineering standards for distributed systems or data platforms
- 2 years of leadership experience, including coaching engineers and delivering team outcomes
- Experience delivering shared platform or infrastructure services used by internal engineering teams
- 5 years of experience building self-service platforms with automation and standardized service offerings
- 3 years of experience improving developer experience through onboarding, documentation, or training
- 3 years of experience supporting production systems, including reliability or incident response practices
- 3 years of experience using metrics to improve platform performance, adoption, or efficiency
- Experience working with AWS NoSQL and distributed database technologies such as Amazon DynamoDB or Amazon Keyspaces
