General Dynamics Information Technology is a global technology and professional services company that delivers technology solutions and mission services. They are seeking a QA/Automation Tester to support the United States Postal Service by developing AI programs focused on automating requirements and test case preparation, as well as ensuring quality assurance for a complex Payroll software application.
Responsibilities
- Interact with Developers and other stakeholders to define, document, analyze, execute, and interpret system integration tests for a complex Payroll software application
- Review user requirements documentation and develop test plans to verify requirements have been met
- Develop test data to be used in performing tests
- Transform test plans into test scripts
- Ensure proper execution of test scripts and documentation of test results in tracking systems
- Analyze test results, document conclusions, and make recommendations that are fully supported by test results
- Ensure testing procedures and results are in compliance with required USPS Technology Solution Life Cycle (TSLC) standards
- Functional Testing. Verify that each feature of the software works as specified in the requirements. Key types of functional testing include:
- Smoke Testing: Quick, initial testing for critical functions
- Regression Testing: Ensure new code changes haven't broken existing functionality
- End-to-End (E2E) Testing: Validate complete system/user flows from start to finish
- Design and develop test automation scripts using Selenium with Python, leveraging available AI models and LLMs to accelerate script creation, maintenance, and self-healing
- Build solutions using Visual Studio Code, Python, and related technologies to harness generative AI and LLMs (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Databricks)
- Integrate the existing Python test automation framework with AI-based solutions to improve coverage, reliability, and efficiency
- Ensure all AI scripts and programs are fully executable on postal-issued laptops within approved security and environment constraints
- Train designated team members to execute, troubleshoot, and maintain the AI scripts and programs
- Develop comprehensive training materials and documentation to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintenance
- Developing Automated Testing Frameworks: Designing and implementing automated testing frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency
- Creating Test Scripts: Writing and maintaining automated test scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing of software applications
- Integration with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and deployment
- Executing Test Cases: Running automated test cases to validate software quality, identify defects, and ensure adherence to requirements
- Identifying Test Scenarios: Analyzing software requirements and user stories to identify test scenarios suitable for automation
- Maintaining Test Suites: Updating and enhancing automated test suites to accommodate changes in software functionality and requirements
- Collaborating with Development Team: Working closely with developers to understand software design and behavior, and address issues identified during testing
- Performance Testing: Conducting automated performance tests to assess application performance under various conditions and workloads
- Security Testing: Implementing automated security tests to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the security of software applications
- Test Reporting and Analysis: Generating test reports, analyzing test results, and communicating findings to stakeholders for decision-making
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Providing training on test automation tools and techniques to team members and sharing best practices for test automation
- Maintaining Test Environments: Setting up and maintaining test environments, ensuring consistency and reliability for automated testing
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies with entire development team to solidify understanding of requirements
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree; OR in lieu of degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience manual and automated testing
- Strong knowledge of software development cycle and testing methodologies
- Proficient in running manual tests, and able to recognize when and how to incorporate automated testing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce expenses
- Payroll domain knowledge
- Understanding of payroll cycles, tax calculations, deductions, benefits, etc
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Payroll Calculations such as gross-to-net pay, benefits deductions, garnishments, bonuses
- Payroll Cycle end-to-end processes such as new hire onboarding, timesheet and HR integration, payroll simulation, paycheck creation, termination/final pay processing
- Retroactive calculations and back pay for salary revisions
- Basic understanding of accounting related to payroll
- Experience using AI-driven tools that automatically generate test scripts based on system requirements, user stories, or existing application behavior
