Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Wood is a global leader in consulting, engineering and operations for the energy and materials sectors. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to support design engineering activities in the North American aftermarket business, focusing on managing a team of technical personnel and addressing engineering challenges in the utility and industrial sector.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of design engineers and drafting personnel and manage all workflow for the team
- Mentor and develop the existing engineering team as you direct the department staff
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Familiar with all pertinent codes and standards such as ASME Section 1, NFPA etc
- Advise engineering solutions and recommendations to project managers and designers
- Review/check Wood and vendor created drawings and calculations
- Coordinate the flow of information and drawing preparation with 3rd party design companies
- Client visits to present, inspect, or collect information, for proposal or contract work. Should be willing to travel to jobsites in North America
- Maintain and update current engineering standards as required
- Review client technical specifications
- Review vendor quotes versus project requirements
- Proposal preparation and cost estimates
- Review vendor requests for material substitutions and approve as appropriate
Skills
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, advanced degree preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to utilize engineering principals in equipment design
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, strong technical writing, and presentation abilities
- Capabilities in computer aided design (AutoCAD), and other boiler applicable engineering software
- Previous experience with industrial and utility sized boilers
- Have Solid PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
- Professional Engineer License preferred
- 10+ years of industry experience successfully delivering projects on budget, on schedule and with high-quality documentation
