The Department of Counseling at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for two (2) full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in our Ánimo Latinx Counseling Emphasis to begin Fall 2024. The Department of Counseling is a CACREP-accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling that prepares graduate students to seek the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credentials in California. Position

The successful candidates will be working in a premiere counselor education program in Southern California that enrolls a culturally diverse student body. The successful two candidates will be teaching in our Ánimo Latinx Counseling Emphasis along with courses that are part of the core CACREP curriculum with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty. The Ánimo Emphasis is designed to address the professional, curricular, and training needs of mental health counselors working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking clients. Furthermore, the Ánimo Emphasis focuses on developing self-awareness as a bilingual and bicultural counselor, knowledge of Latinx-cultures and therapeutic-Spanish, familiarity with interventions appropriate to Latinx and Spanish-speaking clients, and social justice advocacy for issues relevant to the Latinx community. Courses in the Ánimo Emphasis include: COUN 511B Pre-Practicum; COUN 522B Techniques of Brief Treatment & Assessment (i.e., DSM); COUN 527B Systems of Family Counseling; COUN 530B Beginning Practicum; and COUN 584B Advanced Practicum. Compensation

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,405 to $11,994 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6,480 to $6,607 per month.

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).

Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
