Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in various Special Education programs and classrooms, providing support to students with diverse needs.
- Deliver small group and one-on-one instruction as directed by the teacher, adapting to the individual learning plans of students.
- Prepare materials for lessons, correct papers, and perform other tasks that support the educational process.
- Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with regular and special education staff to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Assist students with their individual learning and health needs, which may include providing medical or health services such as catheterization, diapering, toileting, feeding, and tube feeding.
- Support students with activities involving self-care and mobility, including lifting and transferring students in and out of wheelchairs.
- Be physically capable and trained to assist with restraining students when necessary, ensuring safety for all.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A High School Diploma or GED; an Associate degree is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in educational or care settings.
- A valid Paraprofessional Certificate.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, staff, and students.
- The ability to adapt to diverse situations and student needs, showing patience and understanding.
- Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and restrain students as necessary.
