As part of our pre-launch phase, we are strengthening our compliance, governance, and documentation systems to ensure we are audit-ready, funder-ready, and operationally sound from day one.
Role Overview
YIAW is seeking a Compliance & Audit Readiness Officer to conduct a comprehensive review of our organizational documentation and to help structure our internal systems for compliance and audit preparedness.
This role is not bookkeeping, accounting, or legal representation.
It is a governance, compliance, and systems-organization engagement focused on readiness and risk reduction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Documentation Review
Review all existing organizational documentation, including:
Governance documents
Core policies and procedures
Youth safeguarding and privacy materials
Program documentation
Grant-related compliance materials
Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risk areas related to:
Audit readiness
Grant and funder expectations
Nonprofit compliance best practices
2. Audit Readiness & Gap Assessment
Produce a clear, structured Audit Readiness Gap Assessment that:
Identifies what is complete, incomplete, or missing
Highlights compliance risks and priority areas
Differentiates between “launch-critical” vs. “future improvements”
3. Company-Wide Filing & Records System
Design and organize a clean, scalable filing structure for:
Governance
Compliance
Programs
Youth protection
Grants and funder documentation
Ensure the system supports:
Future audits
Grant reviews
Board and governance oversight
4. Compliance Maintenance Flow
Define a lightweight, sustainable compliance workflow, including:
What documents are maintained
Who updates them
How often reviews occur
Where records live
Create clarity without adding operational burden
5. Advisory Support (Limited)
Advise leadership on:
Compliance best practices
Audit readiness expectations
Governance hygiene
This role advises — it does not execute day-to-day operations.

A comprehensive Compliance & Audit Readiness Review
A documented Gap & Risk Assessment
A finalized company-wide filing system
An Audit Readiness Checklist
A simple compliance maintenance flow for ongoing use
Out of Scope (Important)
This role does not include:
Legal advice or legal representation
Financial audits or accounting
Grant writing or submission
Rewriting bylaws or policies from scratch
Ongoing compliance management after the project ends
Ideal Background
Experience in nonprofit compliance, governance, or audit readiness
Familiarity with grant-funded or funder-reviewed organizations
Strong systems-thinking and documentation skills
Comfortable working with early-stage organizations
