Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Staff Data Scientist, with a focus on Customer Data Science initiatives.As a key member of our Data Ventures team, you will work closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to empower team members, stores, and suppliers with technological innovation. Your expertise in data science and analytics will help us better serve our customers and drive business growth. Key Responsibilities Data Source Identification: Understand the requirements and service level agreements, define and identify the most appropriate resources for required data, and perform initial data quality tests.Problem Formulation: Analyze business problems, identify and recommend solutions, and set analytics and automation goals and deliverables. Analytical Modeling: Select suitable modeling techniques for complex problems, develop variables and functions, and conduct exploratory data analysis activities. Model Deployment & Scaling: Work with MLOps to push ML models to production, continuously log and track model behavior, and identify model parameters that may need adjustments. Code Development & Testing: Write code to develop the specified solution, create test cases, and contribute to code documentation and playbooks.Applied Business Acumen: Evaluate proposed business cases, influence stakeholder decision-making, and translate business requirements into strategies and initiatives. Model Assessment & Validation: Identify and review model assessment metrics, apply appropriate techniques for model testing and tuning, and ensure testing data is documented and maintained. Data Visualization and Storyteller: Identify and recommend visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data and model outcomes, and build compelling stories to integrate multiple pieces of data into cohesive insights.Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. At least 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field, with a deep understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science. Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R. Ability to execute projects end-to-end, including junior team members, and implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc. Clear communication skills, with the ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language and present to various audiences.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in a related field, such as a Master's or Ph.D. Experience working with large datasets, cloud-based technologies, and agile development methodologies. Knowledge of data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js. Experience with machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
