Your primary responsibilities will include performing freight handling tasks using motorized and manual equipment, verifying documentation, securing freight, and completing required reports. Key Responsibilities Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g., type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systems Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, rope) Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary Verify and complete required documentation and reports Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed Perform hostling duties if required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as blithequark policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or fork lift operations preferred If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator Basic written and verbal communication skills Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift Ability to work independently and/or as a team member Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with data entry and electronic systems Knowledge of logistics and transportation regulations Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment Ability to speak multiple languages Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems Physical ability to perform freight handling tasksCareer Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members.As a Freight Handling and Data Entry Specialist, you will have access to training and development programs, including: On-the-job training and mentorship Classroom and online training programs Opportunities for advancement and career progression Recognition and reward programs for outstanding performance Work Environment and Company Culture At blithequark, we pride ourselves on our supportive and inclusive work environment.
