OverviewThe Adult Services Library Assistant supports library operations by providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons with reference and technology needs, and helping plan and deliver adult programs. This role also contributes to maintaining collections, promoting library resources, and fostering a welcoming environment for lifelong learning. Job DetailsJob Level : 3Status : Part-Time (18 hours per week) Must be able to work Sundays 12:45-5:15Classification : HourlyReports to: Adult Services ManagerSchedule : Varies; flexible based on business needs, outreach activities, and desk schedulePay Range : $16.00+ per hour, DOQResponsibilitiesProvides excellent customer service and actively promotes library services to the publicAssists patrons with reference and research inquiriesAssists patrons of all skill levels with copying, printing, faxing, and computer usageCreates displays and reader’s advisory materialsAssists in the planning and coordination of adult programs and outreach activitiesProvides 1:1 and group instruction for patrons on a wide range of devicesQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree desiredProficiency with bolthires Office software applications and electronic devicesFamiliarity with software and applications like Sierra, Vega, Libby, and Hoopla a plusExcellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual and/or ESL skills a plusKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAble to think creatively and communicate effectively with othersAble to multi-task and adjust work priorities, as neededAble to adapt to change and work well as part of a teamAble to solve problems and handle escalated situations in a calm, capable mannerProficient with the operation and basic troubleshooting of desktop computers, laptops, portable projection equipment, and a variety of smartphones and tabletsAble to hear, comprehend, and respond to others verbally and in writingAble to drive a car and hold a valid Illinois driver’s licensePlease go to the Sycamore Public Library wedsite, www.sycamorelibrary.org /get involved/employment to complete an online application.Please attach your cover letter and resume to your application.
